There are epics though!
well, they call them "Epic drops"
You see, every item in the game has a teir that it falls into.
white/gray = standard. Usually just merchanted loot or used for trade skills.
green = uncommon. Green's drop quite frequently, and are usually upgrades for someone you know. they also sell easily in the auction house.
blue = rare. Rares are usually much better for the slot than the same level green item. Blues seem to be 3-5 levels higher in terms of what they are. good shit I say!
purple = epic. These are pretty much obsurdly rare drops. most are world drops in that one in like 100,000 creatures drops one. I exagerated that number a bit, but you get the idea. Some creatures have a .1% chance of dropping a specific epic, but... yeah, .1% sucks.
These include a 1h sword, Dragoncall. It's from the head dragon in the Sunken Temple. very very bad ass item. As of when beta1 closed, I believe there were 4 on the server. 3 on the alliance side, 1 on the horde side.
another is a 1h mase, Ironfoe. This is a really bad ass hammer thing that drops from the emperor in black rock depths. another .1% drop rate. There were 2 on beta1 at server close... one on each side. (just to give you an example)
My mage got lucky in Sunken Temple one day and an epic ring "Frozen Band" or something dropped. he's been wearing that ever since.
My warrior had a 1h sword that a friend got while killing mobs in Burning Steps. it's a Bloodrazor. It wasn't amazing, but it was a nicer sword than I had at the time. All in all, it was good shit.
God, I want release...

Hey Xarp, from your experiences, are epic items all world random drops? Or are some world epics dropped by a certain creature/zone only? Aside from the instance ones.

Mug come to mine and Tuuc's server =).
Me kireol and tuuc are in our guild. Its a pretty good group with the others that play most all hit 60 in beta and played for 8 months or so. Its a smaller guild but we get shit done.

My epic bow dropped from the auction house for 120g =).
In all of beta and everyone in my guild only one person has got a epic dropped for them, it was a axe of a random mob in some zone.

there are items that are more rare than epic, they are called "artifacts" i am not sure what color they are.

Ash, we're playing on the 1st central PvP server that pops up on release day. It would be great to see you guys there I'll be there as Ikarus most likely (orc hunter). Pots, certain mobs can drop certain epics. Baron Rivendale in Stratholme has an insane epic 2h sword that he can drop very rarely just to give you an example. I wish we were alliance so we could group together Ash

Xarp, i got to a point where i logged 120 hour week's in WoW beta.
You cannot honestly think i dont know the difference's and the fact that there are epic item's .
I was simply refering to the cluster f**k that was once called chardok getting a fuckload of epic's for DOA's warrior's and cleric's.(and the few straggler necro's)

there own dumb fekkin fault if they dont play with us ^_^ , nothing suxs more then playing a pvp game with "Small " group, when #s are a huge thing, esp in wow.. #s matters, ask DIE
(skill matters too, refer to DIE again! )
horde shaman for the win for me!
anyone who thinks alliance has better classes/ racial abilities are fools!
only good alliance race is gnome..dwarfs / humans have dumb abilities
where the horde has tauren orcs and undead... and the troll one of hp regen is so so
shaman> paladin.. nuff said!

Honestly, some are world drops. Some... from any creature to fall between level xx and xy. Others drop on specific world mobs. IE - ogres that fall between xx and xy.
Some are only found in instances on any mob inside. some are found only on a single mob. They're quite random like that.
As far as "Artifact" goes, I know they exited in alpha for testing purposes (they were orange), and there's even a step above that, "Legendary". they are red. Thottbot shows us that much. But I really don't recall ever seeing an artifact or legendary drop happen in beta at all. nor has anyone really spoken of it, 'cause that would be pretty popular news.
Oh, and Tuuc, I know you played a lot. This was more for the general public.

But a DoT finisher for a very viable form (who needs heals when you can be a cat?) is just too cool.
But, really, I don't see Blizzard budging on the druid issue. Kind of unfortunate, as their forms are, generally, pure ass.

Because they are the #1 guild when it comes to gloating about in game accomplishments. They want to have all the server firsts without having to deal with people ganking them while they level etc., which tends to make it MUCH more difficult to level in my experience (especially when doing quests).
