A guy at work who is a trading fiend swears by Scottrade, to the point of near fanboyism.

Anyone have any good daytrade links? I just started a little while ago. I've been a position trader for quite a while but started to become a bit more active lately. I use ameritrade and they are pretty medicore, i'll probably have to change services if I dont go bust.

Good thing I don't have a house. I dont think I ever want to put that much capital in a non-market investment.

*shrugs* I've made 60k on my house in the last year and a half, and housing prices are only getting crazier in my area.

Real Estate has had a great run the last few years especially in coastal areas (40+%/year). Will it continue? Hard to say, but the historic return on real estate since 1980 has been 13-17% annually.
I'm not that insane really, I'm just a position/swing trader trying to make a buck.

People have been claiming the house market is going to crash for 20 years. It might just do that, but only in places like California, DC area, etc where the average house price is exceeding what the average family can afford. Not that is stopping banks from extending credit to these suckers. If a crash comes it will be about tons of homes that no one is paying for that banks will have to dump to recoup some losses on.

The general public's opinion of all investments is that they are some sort of complicated scam.
