Hey guys, I am new to this game called the Dark Age of Camelot and I would like to see what people think about it. It will take me a lot of time to get into the game and your opinion will make all the difference in my decision if I would like to play it or not. Dark Age of Camelot looks nice, but what do you think?

If you really want to see if this game is good for you or not, then the only way to find it out is to play the game by yourself. You will hear all sorts of opinions here and who is to trust. How will you decide that my opinion that the Dark Age of Camelot is great is any better then of the next guy who thinks that the game sucks big time? It is hard to make a decision if you dont have personal experience with the subject in question. My suggestion is to take a little time and just play the game and make your decision if you want to continue based on that.

Unless you have a friend that plays it will be pretty hard to start from the begining nowdays as most players are max level and dont level you'll be alone most of the times I'm afraid. Thats not to say you wont enjoy it none the less, there's a classic server thats more new player friendly you should play on

I couldnt get into it myself, tried it a cple years ago. Ever since WoW my expectations of an MMO have risen a lot. You cant just slap a bunch of random monsters in a random medieval world with some swords and magic and expect a popular MMO out of it. In its time though Dark Age was very popular and considered one of the best, but this was before a great deal of better games came out.

I played for 3 years, it was one of my favorite games of all time. Really immersive... though the populations now are kind of low, not sure how fun it would be.

I wanted to play it too but its way to old now. Its a shame they are making a WoW clone (War) now.... such a waste of good talent

If you were to be sarcastic, I fail to notice the sarcarsm. And if you are talking about WoW raising the bars, then I feel for ya. What it did was to stablish an "every effort deserves its reward" mentality, which in return kills the fun factor. Most of the generic gamers now look forward instant gratification instead of something called fun. Epics doesn't make a game, it breaks it once the game start to be totally gear based.
DAOC is not pve, in fact, DAOC's pve is pretty pointless, it is a RvR game, there is nothing better than winning in an outnumbered battle due to sheer player skill: put a seasoned RvR player vs a relatively new one, on the very same char with same skills and equipment, and you will see the difference of player skill.
