I remember reading a well-thought out rant about damage dealing in MMOs that got me thinking I was hoping AoC would deal with this issue somehow, but I don't know if there are any plans to do so. Here's the thing: In most MMOs, you can attack a spellcasting character A while his buddy, warrior character B, is attacking you at the same time, and you suffer no special ill effects. That's just too unrealistic IMO unless you're responding somehow to B's attacks, he should be able to gut you like a fish regardless of hit points. Is there some way of handling this, such as penalizing a character that's not fighting his attacker actively? Will AoC deal with this at all?

I don't know if AoC's developers are even thinking about this, but speaking in general I don't think it would be too hard ti implement. Look at D&D for example: In the situation you describe, you would be considered flanked, and the attacker would get +2 to hit and damage, and would catch you flat-footed (which spells "death" if he's a rogue). That seems fairly easy to translate into CRPG rules, IMHO.
