OK, I'm a n00b player, and I already heard that the black mage is the best damage dealing class in the game, so no need to cover that. What I want to know is who are the runners up? Who are the best damage dealers (DPS or otherwise) after the BLM, in your opinion of course?

Well, it depends. Like in most MMOs, there are two kinds of damage dealers in FF, the ones that do their thing directly ("spikers") and the ones that deal their damage in lesser increments over time ("DOTs")
In the former case, the best DPS award goes to: SAM, THF, BLM, DRK, and WAR
In the latter (DoT), probably MNK, RNG, DRG, WAR, and BLU.
