I just bought myself a Plextor 708a/sw DVD +- R/RW burner thing...

Anyway, I'd like to get my hand on a few DVD-R's to burn with it. What's a good brand to go for? Also, what's a good brand for RW's?

thanks.

Oh yeah, next up! What should I use as far as burning software goes? Right now I have nero ultra. That's what I've used for my CD-RW in the past.

Doesn't matter too much, just make sure they're the DVD-R, not DVD+R. I use Memorex, personally, and havent' had any problems with them.

DVD movies use the -R format. You can't burn a movie using a DVD+R disc.

I do it all the time. I use DVD shrink to decrypt them, then burn them as a DVD UDF ISO, and they play fine. The only problem I've encountered so far is my friends Pioneer DVD player won't play them.

Not true at all.

Some older DVD players don't recognize DVD+R and some don't recognize DVD-R. Lots dont recognize the DVD+-RW, even new ones. Never had a problem with either format in a computer DVD player though. Last I looked DVD- was winning the war slightly in sales, like 60% to 40%. But its been a while since I looked at that.
