What does it mean when it says -R or +R???
(ie. Write Speed: 8X DVD+R, 4X DVD-R, 4X DVD+RW, 2X DVD-RW, 40X CD-R, 24X CD-RW)
Gracias

There are multiple kinds of DVDs you can burn. The two most popular ones are DVD-R and DVD+R (and DVD+RW, which is obviously rewriteable.) CDs are only -R and -RW.
| Quote: | | (ie. Write Speed: 8X DVD+R, 4X DVD-R, 4X DVD+RW, 2X DVD-RW, 40X CD-R, 24X CD-RW) | This means that the DVD player will burn at....
8X on DVD+R blanks
4X on DVD-R blanks
2X on DVD-RW blanks
40x on CD-Rs
24x on CD-RW
The difference between DVD-R and +R is that typically -Rs are cheaper and work in more players.
