All take a fairly decent piece of the pie.
Monks will use thier fist to do quick damage, but it's weak.
Thiefs will usually use daggers for sneak/trick attack.
Warriors do slow but hard damage with Great Axes.
Rangers hit hard from far away.
Dragoons use Polearms to do big damage, along with thier Wyverns.
I might be missing something...

Monks do good damage low level, shit damage high level
thieves do shit damage low level, INSANE damage high level
rangers do awesome damage at all levels
warriors are just tanks I guess but they do a fair amount of damage
paladins do relatively small damage but can take a lot of it
never grouped with a dark knight, dragoon, samurai or ninja yet though, although I see ninjas solo awesomely at low level

i know drg/sam is a good dmg combo

rangers do the best damage in the game with their ranged weapons, black mage is prolly second best, dark knight sub samurai is prolly third, dragoon does good damage but since he has utility too he isnt as good as the drk knight, thief is decent too but generally people use it as a sub job more than a main job. Warrior is kinda mix of a tank and a damage dealer so he isnt great at either.. paladin is pure tank and his dps is prolly about as bad as you can get.. ninja decent dmg also a good tank with ninjitsu(sp?)
Rangers are very expensive to play tho because their ammo costs a ton.. think like if rangers in EQ didnt have endless quiver but still had to use 10pp arrows to be decent... dark knight is really your best be for the best melee i think.. tho sub samurai does the most damage its a little agro intensive so sub theif or warrior is more common. And also the main problem with dragoons is later on their wyverns just dont last long, the wyvern summon is on a 2 hour timer and high lvl stuff can kill the wyvern in 1 aoe..

uhh....paladins arent the best but they certainly arent the worst. You guys havent seen vorpal blade yet I guess =p Best dmg combo would have to be Samurai/Drk. Realistically, if you dont play 24/7 id say sub a warrior. Ninjas have some decent dmg too. Its really all about what weapon your using. sam just has that edge with the tp ability though.

Think again, a thief using special thief attack in a renkei will do about 300 more damage than a ranger at level 70 apparently. ranger does 1800, thief does 1300+800.

he asked about dps not highest burst damage, ranger does better dps overall.
Oh and Tura a lvl 70 paladin has the second worst damage in the game, they are pure tank.
Samurai / drk might be the best melee combo but I still think drk / sam is better mostly because while sam is a great sub for drk, drk isnt really a great sub for sam.. niether of the knight classes make great subs in this game actually.

DRG/SAM (penta / superjump) or DRK/THF (guilatine / trick attack) is some damn nice damage that wont break your bank.
DRK/SAM is just asking to die tho =/ i mean my Taru BLM tanks better than a DRK and as a DRK/SAM u got no way to get rid of that hate =/ DRK/THF prolly better than DRG/SAM cuz of the 5 min reuse on superjump vs. 1 min reuse on trick.

Rangers seem sensational... WTF? Why did I say sensational. Mabye because I am Canadian.

at higher levels you will be paying 10000 gil + per group exp session as a ranger :p Drk generates tons of agro by itself, I can't imagine a Drk/Samurai heh. Ninja/thief or Ninja/monk would be decent damage wouldn't it?

I would think hitting as hard as they do, would allow them to make enough money to keep that ammount of gil in supply.. am I wrong?
I was in beta, but all I played was a warrior, and only for like 5 minutes intill I got annoyed that everyone was max level in like ever class, but sence they were all jap's I couldn't figure out how to /level my self. So I quit.
