How extensive are the options for character appearance customization in D&D Online? Now, I now a lot of people ignore this stuff, and just choose the default option and go on straight into the game, but for me it's important. Do you have to do it all at creation, or can things change later? How extensive in general is the customization?

Pretty extensive, in my opinion, though I don't have much experience with other online MMO role playing games. In DDO, you can change the shape of your mouth / eyes / nose / ears / lips, the color of your eyes and hair, your hair style, your facial hair style (if you're a male, of course), etc. You can also add stuff like scars and piercings, but that's optional.
