Hi! I see there are lots of those independent servers, so called private servers, available out there. I was thinking if I could create a server of my own. I have an athlon x2 4000+ based computer with 2 gigs of ram. Can I run a server on this machine? Or do I need an upgrade?

It’s not impossible to make a big gaming server on your home computer. Although your processing power might be enough, still you don’t have de adequate connection. If you want to run a server, you should get a leased line internet connection, which is way too expensive. Home adsl and cable connections could serve not more than a dozen of players.
