Yea, this is my week for computer issues
Ok, since the last patch, I am crashing in Tranquiity in the SAME spot every time I run through it....and getting an eqgame.exe error. Of course, then when you try to log back in, you get the infamous 1018 error.
Now, I am crashing with the same error in other zones as well. No warning, no change in stats.
Someone suggested to me that those errors are usually DX related or when more than one device tries to use the interrupt that my sound is on? I turned off Sound in options at login screen.
Yea, I can reinstall, and hope that that helps.
But am wondering bout the following:
Anyone else have this issue since last patch? I know at least one other guildie does.
I have not changed anything since I moved, except my ISP, which should have no bearing, I am now networked (wired) with Ezzan's computer,l and I have taken to running Musicmatch while in game since my stereo is not yet hooked up. I have avoided DX9 installation and have not updated any drivers (no updates available at this time).
Could any of those things have an impact?

I would say that it could possibly be running Musicmatch behind EQ. Have you noticed if it happens if you are not running it?

Right after last patch I found myself crashing quite a bit randomly and getting the eqgame errors. A couple people on the eq tech boards seemed to be having similar problems and had gone to turning the texture quality in the settings to low rather than high and things appeared to work. It worked for me. Not really a great solution but it works now at least.

The worst part is that now it's not only that spot in Tranquility...when I do hit that spot and go LD, after I log back in, I find myself over near the windmill (safe spot?)...but I am also crashing now in other spots in PoT...<sigh.

Bad leeezard... Bad, bad leezard.
Princi is like the SA team mascott.
We just aren't the same without her.
I have the same issues (to an extent) with a lot of the Kunark era zones. After spending numerous on-line chats with tech support with EQ, we came to the conclusion that *my* issue was the soundcard.
I had to disable it totally (as in remove it from a hardware profile) to get Kunark to load properly.
Best I could suggest is remove the soundcard drivers from your hardware profile and give it a whirl. If you can move around again, without the LD's in Tranq, then we know that it's "sound related" and local to your machine.
After that, I'd probe around with the probable changes (other than physical location) of what you are doing differantly since before the LD's.
DirectX may or may not be the issue, old sound drivers could be it as well. From the troubleshooting standpoint, try eliminating a variable (drastic, yes) but see where we neeed to go from a point you can manuver in PoTranq and other various PoP zones.

Yes, I am.
Don't take it personally, it's not you, it's Sony (Modified version of Georges break up line).
I hate them, I really, really do, and you're giving them money. You're my mortal enemy!!

Okies..had this problem...solved this problem!
This was happening to me on both my comps. This was also happening to me in Jagged Pine...BUT, only when I got close to the water (which just happens to be the same texture for water that's used in PoT)...Same in PoT...whenever my comp would come remotely close to needing to load the water, bam, the closer I was to the water? The less I could move till it happened again...I could move around in PoT for a while, then it would happen...move towards the water? Bam, down...load back up? turn 15 degrees on the waters edge...bam, down...so that led me to believe the water texture files were corrupt...but I wasnt sure so..
I deleted the PoT files...and the JP files (haven't been back to test this zone though) guildmate suggested repatching the global files, so did that too...worked for me on one computer...other one worked for a day, then went back to crashing again...I put up with it for a while since I didnt have the patience or time to figure out the problem when I was busy (hence why I narrowed it down to the water, cause I had a while to do so, lol)
Finally got p****d enough to hunt down the problem again...deleted any PoT files, Deleted all the Global files, deleted any file that even remotely sounded like it might have anything to do with more than one zone in the game...
Reinstalled Dx9.
My vid driver was already up to date.
Set texture compression off (which it was already but someone suggested to check this)
Repatching took me about 40 mins (on a T1) so you decide if you wanna try it or not.
Loaded up, havent crashed since...
So, could be a few things:
The PoT files
The global files
The other game files I deleted (there weren't a ton, just anything non zone specific, that wasnt a char ini file or something)
Dx9
On a side note...while this mess was going on, and I was getting that stupid 1018 error and taking 20 mins to go LD, I found a little trick to kicking my char from game.
It's always helped to reboot when that happens to completely sever the connection, dunno...but it did...so tried actually making my comp load a new acct, figured maybe faster and less hassle, to break that acct off...well, Aha! To my somewhat surprise, it worked...thought maybe it might have been a fluke...but I tried it again, about 10 times, to make sure it was actually working...let my char sit there, 10 mins, still in game...loaded another acct to just the server select...checked "/who (main char) all" on the other machine that was in game...and soon as I hit the key to load a diff acct to server select, my char would get booted from the game. Coincidence? Dunno, you decide...but it worked for me.
Good luck.

I deleted all my TXC files and haven't crashed in a good 4 days now after having random crashes. Could be a fluke though /shrug
