say you got about 30$ a week to spend on grochery for your self a week what would you buy?
Well as a single male I do fend for my self and all my own food.
I normmaly buy meat bundles at the IGA and stuff like mac and cheese and rice to make. So far thats all I really been doing..
I'm getting tired of it.

Ramen!!!!!!!!
Also somethin I like making, is this.
melt a slice of pepperjack cheese on top of some deli meat, I prefer pastrami for this....microwave for like 20 seconds should work.
Put between 2 pieces of toast with a lil mustard.
It's actually really good, and cheap to make.

$30 a week wont get you a lot of variety unfortunately. You have your groups of cheap shit you can buy, ramen, mac and cheese etc. Just rotate a cheap ass meal menu every week.

I spend $20-$30 a week with the odd $50 week when I hit Sam's or find a good sale. I eat 5 times a day 7 days a week (I eat out maybe once every 2 weeks) and all of it is healthy. My grocery list generally consists of all or a combination of the following:
- Oatmeal
- Oatbran
- Grits
- Flax Seeds
- Brown Rice
- Tofu
- Tempeh
- Hummus
- Salad Dressing (I usually get organic which is a bit more expensive)
- Fruits (Apples, Oranges, Bananas, etc..)
- Vegetables (Lettuce, Carrots, Radishes, Salad Mix, etc..)
- Eggs (Usually 1.5 Dozen)
- Soy Milk
- Sprouted Grain Bread (Go for regular if you want to save even more money)
- Whole Wheat Tortilla Bread
- Canned Goods (Green Beans, Corn, Black/Red Beans)
That is it for the most part. When I need them, I will also get Spices, Flours (Whole Wheat and Bread), yeast, etc..
I am a vegetarian and you are not, so you would need to add whatever meat you eat to that list. You can get chicken breasts and Lunch meat in bulk cheaper at places like Sam's and Costco. Also keep an eye out for sales and stock up when they have them.
EDIT(s) - I keep forgetting things on my list and adding them as I think of them lol. I believe its complete now =)

I eat at least twice as much as a normal person should. 5000 calories at least. I usually just go nuts after a hard enough day's work or a long enough run/workout.
I will probably go mad after the first week of college not having access to the cafeteria. I guess I'll find out.

Yea I just noticed that. I posted, it sat here spinning, then just stopped but the screen was still at the "Post a reply" screen. So I hit submit again thinking it timed out (but without telling me so). Odd.

When I was on a college food budget I'd buy a huge sack of rice which is always dirt cheap, then I'd buy stuff to make with it. Chicken, veggies, sauces, you will be sick of rice after a while but if you play your cards right that won't happen for a long time.
I thought you could live off the land? Aren't country boys good at that?

Yeah it did the same thing to me. I hung for about 7 minutes before I closed the window and reopened the thread to see if my post when through. I have gotten into that habit lately with RP =)

That's only 4 a day. This would only put you at the 1700 (or so) calorie mark, which for a big boy like Paden would mean he'd lose weight. If cooking were not an option, this is probably one of the better sandwiches out there to sustain yourself on. Are they really only $0.99? That seems crazy. I used to pay $2.86 (including tax)!

I was a vegitarian (because I moved into a house where everyone else was) when I was in grad school and we spent practically nothing on food. Rice and beans is good for you and costs practically nothing. We made our own bread and yogurt, although if you buy big sizes that's pretty cheap too. Ate a lot of peanut butter and cheese. Spaghetti, eggplant, squash can all be main dishes.
I had a tiny grad student stipend and I was still banking over half of it.

Grits, Cereal, Milk, Eggs, Tortillas, kidney beans, Franks Red Hot, Cheese, tomatos, lettuce, salad dressing, cans of soup, rice, tuna, mac and cheese, broccoli, soy sauce.
Breakfast: cereal, Eggs, Huevos Rancheros, Omlettes, Grits.
Lunch: salad, Tortillas with kidney beans..red hot..tomatos....cheese.
Dinner: soup, soup with rice, rice with beans, mac and cheese with tuna on top, rice and broccoli with soy sauce.
Ate this way for 3 years pretty much during school.
Occasionally I would hit taco bell and order bean and cheese burritos for 99 cents. Filling and cheap. =)
