No western country has as much trouble conducting their elections as the US.

Living in Switzerland I get to vote on issues pretty much every 3 months, ranging from closing post offices, changing naturalisation laws, all the way to electing representatives. They get here by post, arrive long ahead of the deadline, and I have the option to mail it in, go to the ballot and throw it in myself, or just trash it.

The envelope includes a short summary of the issues and small pieces of paper asking you to write your vote (yes/no or in case of elections a name) - that's it.

Now I admit we only have 7m people here - nothing like the 100m votes that have to be counted in the US - but how hard can this actually be?

Considering how technologically advanced the US is, it's somewhat hard to understand people still have to stand in line to cast their vote. Not to mention most states still useing punchcards...

Why aren't elections done by mail? Or is the post system in even worse shape? :p

I'm sure they could figure out some online voteing system too - they could send you a code through mail, and you'd have to use that along with your social security number to cast your vote. If you don't have an internet connections, or didn't get a code by mistake, you could still use the old system...

The US was founded by a bunch of theifs and criminals and is still run by them. That system would not work here though I wish it would.

vote locally, .. its your only vote that counts... so research that shit, .. and get out there and make a differnece

Just to clarify - the post is about how elections are conducted, (Waiting in line for hours to use punchcards,) not whether or not voting on all issues is better than electing people to make those decissions.

If elections were conducted online, I predict Xarpolis would get screwed outta $1600 by some dude pretending to be a babe while he's waiting to vote.
