So now I cant load any CD at all in my cd drive...

When I put one in..it makes a strange noise a few time..then nothing and if I try to start any games already on my computer it says that no CD are found.

Any idea beside the fact that my CD drive is prob strewed?

Doubt it. They're pretty cheap, I'd just go get another one now.

ahhh dude

you have 2 things to unplug (cable - power supply) - plug the new one in the same way you take this out - it's cake

Really easy...open up the case, unscrew it, unhook the cables, slide it out, slide the new one in, hook the cables back up, s***w it in, s***w the case back together.

Takes about 2 minutes.

Tech shops love people like you. You'll give them $50 bucks for two minutes' worth of work.

There's hardly anything they can do that you can't...

yeah, acually quite common for people who leave a CD in the CD-Rom all the time to waste a Drive in 5 months to a year...

When you leave a CD in The CD-Rom it "Spools" up and "Checks" the CD every time you click on anything related to or linked to "My Computer" which is half the programs on windows. So your CD-Rom is in a sense Running a million times a day.

I Have Replaced the drives on a couple peoples PC's that I built, who left CDs in the the Drive 24-7, in less then a year.
but after telling them Not to do that the new drives last forever.

Buy a Lite-on 52x for like $20.00 or get the 16x48x lite-on DVD for only $33.00

or if you really want to be cool get the Lite-on 52x24x52 burner for $43.00.

every Drive I have used in the last 6 years building computers has been a lite-on and my 3 computers have 16xDVD ,48x12x48x, and 52x24x52x lite on drives.

just cant beat there price.

IMO leaving a CD in the ROM shortens the life of the Drive..

Put a CD in your Drive and pay attention to how many times it spools up and reads the Disk while your using the PC. its does it a lot.

CD-roms may last 10 years they may last 2 months, reguardless its not wise to do so.

The couple of Drives that ever went bad could of been defective or abused, I dont know, but I know they were left with CD's in them.

Think about it,

maybe I shouldnt shut my car off when Im not using it, just let it run all the time, that wont lessen the life of the Engine or the parts huh?

or how about this maybe I'll leave my Oven on all the time that way I dont have to wait for it to get hot anymore. sounds good ey?

Im not trying to sell him anything, and yes my opinions may sound Sales pitchy, maybe its a flaw in my personality, but I was merly giving opinionated advice from my own experence.

*Edited to remove my attitude.
