Ok. Question for those of you who may know a thing or two about computers, because I do not.
My computer: a HP pavilion... few years old.
My problem: PC has worked fine for about 4 years, no issues whatsoever. Use it for gaming and email. Nothing special. Recently i packed it up and moved it to my new apt. Once i got there, set it up and it worked fine... all but my internet connection. Windows..XP that is, shows me i have a connection made, gives me an IP, and even a connection speed. It also says it is sending info, but receives none. I cannot connect to the internet through IE or any of my online games. I replaced the ethernet card... that didnt work. I have a feeling its some sort of a setting, but again that is where my knowledge stops. Could anyone offer some advice? I'd really like to get it workin again, and don't want to have to buy a new PC. Thanks.

Control panel/Network connections highlight local area connection, disable, enable, repair. Ive had this problem before and it worked for me. Perhaps it'll work for you.

Go to Start.
click Run.
Type in "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt".
Click OK.
A cmd window will flash quickly for you.
Unplug your DSL gateway.
Turn off the computer.
Wait 30 seconds.
Plug the DSL gateway back in.
Wait for it to train up...depending on your gateway, this is usually indicated by a blinking light going solid.
Turn computer on.
If this doesn't work, tell me:
Are you using the same cable to connect your computer to your DSL connection as these other computers are using, or is this wireless?
What kind of DSL gateway do you have?
Who is your telephone company?
Did you change the DSL filter that you have on your telephone line?

If you just moved; did you get your dsl hooked up at new house or was it already there? Otherwise
Try calling your isp, might be something on their end.
