OK this has been driving me nuts for the past few days. I'm trying to hook my laptop up onto a TV moniter so I can watch movies and crap I've been downloading. I went out and bought a S-Video link but when I hook it up to the TV nothing happens except when I open a folder, the TV flickers a little bit. One of my friends mentioned something about configuring the moniter options, but thats all he knew. Anyone offer some help to a tech challeneged person?

I love my Radeon board. Everything gets outputted to TV when I turn on. And I mean everything, from when I boot up and BIOS flashes on my TV to when I watch that bukkake porn I just downloaded featuring Nanase Nanami.
It's great. And with "Theater Mode" I can choose to display the video overlay ONLY to my TV, so I can just launch that bukkake video in media player and chat on IM while it displays in full screen on my television right to me.
I know, this doesn't answer your question at all, but I don't care.

For Nvidia cards make sure you have the latest drivers. 61.77 are the latest officals, tho they are a bit old. I use the 65.73 beta, overall they are the best driver Nvidia has put out todate for gaming. You can also get the newer 66.81 beta off of Nvidia's Nzone website.
Rightclick -> Properties -> Advanced -> the tab with the name of your video card. This should open up a little side menu. Go down to Troubleshooting and click the "Detect Displays" button. If that doesn't work check that little checkbox that says "My connected TV is not being detected".
If that doesn't work to no avial, try other things like checking wires or what not. Personally for TV out and all that crap, ATi is the way to go especially with their AIW cards.

Ok this is a start. I went and DL'd the 66.81 beta version and installed it. I pull up the tab with my video card driver and it brings up a fancy GForce FX nvidia menu. On the lil side menu there is no troublshooting tab. On the top of the screen there is a troubleshooting tab that I click, but it does not bring up the options which you were mentioning. Its only about "Hardware Acceleration" Any steps on where to go from here?

First did you go into display options and see if the tv is listed there and then choose extend my desktop to this device?

My TV does not have a plug in for the S-Video link because its so old. Howerver, my DVD player does...I've been trying to run it through the DVD player w/ no luck. Is that possible? or am I just wasting my time?

Try right click desktop/system/settings/then there should be a 1 and 2 monitor setting.
Extend your desktop to the second monitor.
That should work....its great for watching movies on

Ah cool didnt know that! You do learn something new everyday ;D
Oh and to get to that trouble shooting tab, heres a pic.
Should be a little menu that pops up on the side when you click the tab with your video card name on it, that has troubleshooting, performance and quality settings, nview and so on.

Thanks for the pic Meet, I still don't have a troubleshooting bar on that lil menu pop out thing. I found that utility menu though and it is for the most part the same as the one you displayed, minus the option about not recognizing the TV... Guess i'm out of luck on it
Unless...is there anyway to DL the drivers i need to instal that option on my laptop? or do i need to go out and buy the software?
