Our young people go on with their lives very unaware of the "real" risk that violence has in their lives, but not because of video games. To pin the blame on one group of the entertainment sector is far beyond meaningless in the sceme of things. I have trouble watching the news because it is so depressing. I really liked the thought you have givin in this article and thanks for letting us know about the bill.

Great article windshell. I think video games relate to real life violence in some situations, in the same way as computer game addiction relates to approximately 10% of gamers. I personally believe the media spins stories and blames the video game industry for real world events that have a minor link to a video game i.e. the teenager in England who played the game manhunt and killed someone.

People have been going psychotic and killing each other for thousands of years (though on a larger scale obviously), and it is just easier to blame video games today than accept that it is part of human nature.

WTF?

What are they going to do? Make Pac-man 18-rated? Just because you eat ghosts? Bullcrap... There is no blood or anything!

I bet sonic the hedgehog will be 18-rated too... Spin dash attack ftw.

If this bill passes, there will be over a million games in the adult section and only a few thousand in the other genres... regardless if its porn or not.

Its not video games influencing violence, its mainly cult.

Politics are stupid.. g*****n

As i was browsing www.game.co.uk to check prices on The Orange Box i came across this:

(Manhunt was banned in the UK about 2 years ago after that teenager became obsessed with it, though i have seen it on the shelves in stores now)

content in video games i think can be dangerous to some people, but for the most part its just fun, and keeps kids out of REAL trouble

Great article. Violence in video games has become more graphic over the years, and yes it can influence kids in some ways. But to say that kids go on massacres and crime sprees because of video games is ridiculous. Any normal child whose parents teach him/her right from wrong knows that it is only fantasy, and is not the right way of living. I am sick of the government blaming the video game industry whenever a kid commits a crime.

i really don't even think that in this day and age you should have to be 18+ to get porn when most kids learn about it and start watching it as young as 11-12. extra violent games however corrupt the minds of kids if they are exposed to them at really young ages which can tend to lead to violent tendancies
