Trying to decide between sk vs ranger. If anyone has played either in beta let me know. Also was wondering if there are any good sites out there outlining the shadowknight class. Thanks.

Haven't made it to ranger yet but thus far I really like my scout. He's alot of fun.

if you want to be a ranger you have to be aligned to qeynos
no ranger trainers in freeport - good only
just an FYI

betrayal works for races
i other words you can be an Ogre paladin if you betray freeport
but you can't live in freeport and be a paladin
|

there were like 2 billion 'crusaders' in Freeport the other day - if people play them as much once the game goes live, I predict getting groups is going to suck for some people.
Not that a cleric, a druid and 4 crusaders wasn't a good group - we sure owned and DPS was pretty decent.

We played last night 1 sorc, 1 clr, 1 dru, 1 pred, 1 rogue and did very well with the rogue tanking.

Crusaders (Paladins/Shadowknights) are every bit as good as Warriors (Guardians/Berserkers) in tanking, the differences are minute.

Thanks for info. So Ob, if I wanted to be an evil ranger, I could betray Qeynos, but I wouldn't be able to live in Freeport? Also, are there any good sites that have a spell list/ability chart for shadowknights. I know sony released a list that showed 3 lines of spells + unholy steed, but was looking for more.

I'm going to be playing a Ratonga Ranger. I am going to betray freeport. If you betray a city you live in the other city. Such as myself, I am going to betray freeport and will be kos there but will be perfectly fine living and doing everything else in Qeynos. This is the only way i can play a rat and be a ranger.

I will either be a DE Enchanter Or an Ogre warrior type thing to be determined. I really liked Freeport during the beta and commonlands/nek forest etc is way more appealing to me than anything Q had to offer.

I really like the ratonga's. But i really like being a ranger. I played beta enough to get up to lvl 15 in beta and loved the class completely. Now to convince my wife she wants to play a rat!

then you've never played as a ranger, you were a preditor, which you could be just as well in freeport, though you'd turn into an assassin instead...
The betrayal quest must be iniated before chsing your final profesion, and you have to compleat it once starting before being able to choose said final prof.
So classes that are good/evil must be played in the good/evil city you get them from. Betrayl is only a way to play a good/evil race in the oposing city.

No, i've never played a ranger. I have played a predator and a scout. I like both. I have played a ranger at some point in every MMORPG i have ever played. I enjoy them the most.
I do not want to be an assassin, therefore i will be a ranger.

technically you cannot be an evil ranger
you could be an inherent evil race playing a ranger in qeynos (but only because you betrayed your racial origins) because you are now "good"
there are no ranger trainers in freeport at all - so you just cannot live there and be a ranger period.

You don't need to visit a trainer to get skills, you get them as you lvl. To upgrade them you need items crafted through tradeskills and dropped on mobs.

technically you cannot be an evil ranger
you could be an inherent evil race playing a ranger in qeynos (but only because you betrayed your racial origins) because you are now "good"
there are no ranger trainers in freeport at all - so you just cannot live there and be a ranger period. |
So how detrimental is not having a trainer?

When he says Ranger Trainer he means the guy that gives the class to you

You get the class by doing a quest, the guy who gives preditors their quest in FP tgives you a quest that turns you into an assassin, the guy in qeynos gives you one that turns you into a ranger. you have to betray before doing the quest. Once you betray you can't go back into your old city.
