I remember when CoH launched you could buy the game online and get a CD key; do they still offer that option? I'm considering giving the game another shot and play it casually every now and then. However, I don't want to pay $40 shipping and wait 2 weeks for it to get here.
I could have a friend in NA buy it for me, but I'd still need the game client. Haven't had any success finding it on a bittorrent page, and emule is slow and lame =/
MMOG companies need to start offering their games up for download, like EQ does. Even if they manage a worldwide release (which almost no game so far did), the shipping cost still sucks for euros. On the other hand it takes like 30mins to download it - yay.

They used to sell the download and play thing, but there was some issue with some ppl exploiting it somehow. I don't know the details.
There was some talk about this:
https://store.plaync.com/product.php?productid=16152&cat=248&page=1
That people were buying to get the prestige powers/bonuses fromt he collectors edition. Im not sure if it includes a CD key or not though =\
I think the best bet would be to just go to the store and buy a copy unless you got a CD key and just want to find a place to download the game. In which case I don't really know anywhere with every BT site getting destroyed. =\

Thanks
I got lucky and found the original CoH patcher on a backup DVD - time to find out if that works =p
They don't have it on the shelves here, I'd have to get it imported. =/

They have added some new "martial arts" costumes and a different character creation on body style and mass.

How is it these days? I haven't canceled my account, but I'd probably have to download 3 months worth of updates before I could get it to run and try it.

Im still playing and I love it. up to lvl 48 now.
Fire Tankers are still extremely overpowered (whats new? hehe)
Some of the new content from the issues is really cool (Shadow Shard/Arena/new costumes/Striga Isle/Peregrine Island/badge and accolade system) depending on how long ago you played. Im really looking forward to CoV beta in a couple of months, I stopped playing for a few months though so I don't know how good my chances are of getting in. They are awarding slots by how long you've been a subscriber

Is that fire/fire? Just for once I'd like to play an overpowered class =p (Mage in EQ :p)
I assume tankers are - well, the warriors? :p
Been so long, I quit 2 months or so after it went live =/

The rumor is that for PvP, you have a better chance of survival with an Invulnerable/Energy Melee tanker. So far this combo comes out on top in the Arena a lot.
