I have a question regarding which race to choose in Eve Online. I want to start paying this brilliant game, so I am researching everything about it. So far, I have managed to find almost everything about the game, as what kind of game it is, what is the story, what are the weapons and items used in it. However, I never found the list of all races and the difference between them.

You, my man, are smart. You have successes where many have failed. You have researched the game before you have begun to play it. It is very smart decision. Very few people are doing that these days, so they always ask the dumb questions. Races are very important to this kind of games, so you must study them very carefully. If you make a mistake in choosing a race, you will be disappointed later. Eve Online has the good tutorial on the web site regarding races. Read it, and you will choose the race more efficient.

As far as PvP and race specialties
Gallente = Drones specialty
Calderi = Ewar specialty mostly shield tanking
Amarr = Lasers and Cap Warfare have one awesome battleship, huge alfa-strike (first attack from all guns) and good tanking
Minmatar = Jack of all trades, most of their ships are speedy. Very high skill point race if you want to use correctly
hope that helps

aye but what I like about making a toon in EVE as long as you set the stats right you can always train for the different races ships cause the bonouses are on the ships themselves not on the race of your toon

Good thing your researching everything before you start. Also did you try the game yet (just with a random alt, to really get the feel of how it really works)? When you pick the race in the beginning, it only determines your what are the first skills your going to get (800k SP).
The final question is what do you want to do? missions? pvp?
Mission: Caldari
PvP: Gallente / Minmitar
Also VERY IMPORTANT. before starting decide how you want to play the game, is your character going to be an all combat character? or all industrial? Diplomat? When you choose, look at the skills that you will most be using (example: PvP would be going for a lot of gunnery, space ship command, etc)
Each "pool" of skills have a primary attribute // secondary attribute that determine how fast you train, and I would highly recommend figuring out which attributes you want maxed before creating your character (again example: PvP char would want the most perception / willpower he wants)

also, the race your character is does not dictate what ships you can fly.
the achura bloodline has the best attribute layout in general for pvp specced chars due to their ability to stack perception

What character race you pick has no bearing on what race's ships you can train it to fly.
With character races and bloodlines you need to pick one that:
- has attribute distribution suited to what career you'd like to have in EVE
- what background story you like most, especially important if you're a role player
- which appearances you like most
With ships, as already was mentioned you can train for any race provided you buy racial skill books. Try not to spread thin and train just for 1 race's ships or may be 2 race's. Gallente and Minmatar ships are considered to be best for solo and small gang pvp. Amarr and Caldari ships are considered to be best for fleet pvp.

like most popular games its good to research before you actually choose what you play because lvling up all the way to mid game then you find urself gimped at something will really suck if u decide to start over again, but as previously stated its either mission or pvp so its up to you to choose what race you wanna be to fit your play style.

First of all, all races are more or less the same. The only thing they affect is what you can do right away. Long term, they are all the same IMO.
Ship wise...
Caldari - Missiles and shields.
Gallente - Railguns, armor and drones.
Amarr - Lasers.
Minmatar - Weird ships. Fast ships. They can be either armor or shields or both. Weapon-wise they seem to close range guns.

I have played this game for well over a year now and disagree with soem of the posts on here. the race you chose is all but meaningless. The race you chose will determine your starting skills ad so will be important as to what you have to start but skills are race limited. Whatever race you chose you can specialize on anything and the difference between the proper race and cross race on any given skill path will be insignificant. Most long term players I know cross train anyway.
