Alright whenever my car is running for about a min or so the RPM meter drops below 1000, and ofcorse an engine is suspost to stay at 1000 RPM's +, mine goes to about 500, then it dies. I am so sick of having to put it in park and start the car up again, especially when people are waiting behind me at a red light. Any idea what is causing this?
I forget the term but you can set and change your idle speed on your car it could be that something has slowed down you idle speed causing the car to cut off because it's not getting enough gas.
I would have someone who you trust and knows about cars up your idle speed and that should fix the problem but then again i steel only good cars so what do i know.

Lol, no it's not stick shift, it's the problem that Reebo mentioned, it only happens when i'm idle, most of the time I have to throw it in neutral and give it some gas so it stays above 1000 RPM's.
If it's fuel injection it could be a number of things. Is your SES light (service engine soon) coming on? Check the codes and that should give you a start. You can check the codes by jumping two of the pins on the harness where you hook an ALDL cable up. Not sure what car you got, but on mine it's pins 6 and 12.
My car used to idle low, then the ses light would turn on. I checked the codes and it said I had an error in my electronic timing circuit. I found a loose ground on it, worked great after that. Good luck.

I had that problem in my car, i dunno if we have the same problem though. The one thing i'd check is the O2 sensor, after that my car idled fine. The other problem i've seen that happen to is my friend's car, which is like 18 years old, so we just adjusted the air flow meter so it idled at 1000 again.
