Ok I need help fast. My family is coming over and I know my cousins are going to want to play with the computer but lately I have horrible porn pop ups and other stuff. I do not want my 5 year old cousin to be playing Finding Nemo and a big c**k pop up in her face.
There is 6 desktop shortcuts that pop up every time I log onto the computer. Each of them is Porn. I delete them and they come back next time I get on. I run SpyBot and it gets nothing. Then there are the pop ups when I am online. Most of them Porn from Ahteens.com and worldsex.com or something. Spybot gets nothing there as well.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated. I do not know a whole lot about comps so keep it as easy as possible.

pull out video card sligtly and say its broke and it will not come on
or
try adaware
if you cant fix it just do a little something something to make it look broken
then "fix" it the next day
My step moms computers registry got f****d up and the main page on IE is a porn site full of pop ups.
I deleted all IE shortcuts and made mock ups that take her to RoadRunners home page.

ad-aware and spybot
run both of those
that's the quick fix that will MOST LIKELY get rid of MOST of the pop-ups

If they are just gonna be playing non internet games...
Why not just disconect it from the net until they are done using the system?

There's a program I used to run into at work alot called Dialer.*. It sounds like what you're describing.
Basically, even if you delete the program and registry entries for the program, it will be reinstalled by a second executable that is called as part of startup. Adaware and Spybot don't do anything to stop it to my knowledge.
Do a search through your computer's files for a dialer.*. If anything, comes up, do a search on this site http://www.symantec.com/search/ for the filename do what it tells you. Alternatively, you could get a good anti-virus program such as Norton or McAfee. Both of those will remove both the executable and the reinstaller.

I just went back and reread this. If you just want a quick fix to get rid of the popups, go get popup stopper. It costs about 20 dollars. All it does is stop a second IE window from opening but it will stop the popups while you're on the internet.
Of course, if you really want to fix the problem, you still have to get rid of the reinstall programs I was talking about earlier. That's a bit more of a hassle and not really a quick fix though.

Yeah but you have to be inside a browser for it to work.
The popups he is getting i think are random and don't require having a browser open.

Click Start->Programs->Startup and if there's anything listed that looks porn related then right-click and delete them.
Other way is go to Start->Run, type in msconfig, and hit enter. Under the startup tab if anything looks like porn then clear the checkbox next to it and click apply.
These 2 things should help a lot but I'm not sure if the second method will work under 2K/XP.

A few months ago I was experimenting with different pop-up blockers. Currently I havent had a pop-up in about 2 months. I have no idea what program is doing it since I never have anything running in the background, not even virus scanners, but something is owning these popups.
