Meanwhile, http://www.electoral-vote.com/ shows Kerry winning more and more electoral votes every day.
CNN claims that their figures include "analysis" and interviews with campaign aides, strategists, pollsters, etc as well as actual polling data, which seems a bit suspicious. On the other hand, my impression is CNN is for Kerry, so you'd think that would help him rather than hurt him.

electoral-vote is very Kerry biased. You may as well ask MIchael Moore. This is more reliable and much more telling:
