Ok, so basically, how I understand it.
We just passed something that says...in a nutshell, we're tired of south americans coming to america and taking our jobs, so we're going to export those jobs to thier home country instead?
How does that make sense =p

Not sure if you're mixing something up here, but DR-CAFTA (as it is called now) is the Dominican Republic Central America Free Trade Agreement.
While immigration may be affected by it (the bill requires higher labor standards), it's not an anti-immigration bill. It's also not a protectionist bill - on the contrary, it cracks down on subsidies on agricultural products.
As for what the US gets out of it: Most tarrifs will be dropped immediatly, others will be phased out slowly. This opens up the market the US companies, who previously couldn't compete. Opposition is mostly farmers who fear they might be put out of business - such is free trade.
So in a nutshell: US farmers might get screwed, large corporations just got 44 Million new potential customers, acknowledgment of intellectual property rights and a bunch of other stuff. "Free trade" has never favored small business owners, and never will.

My dad is from the Dominican Republic, though his name is Spanish (it's the name of a Spanish city and a word). My mom is Polish by name. I'm like the pot luck racial mix!

It a bill that allows us to buy goods like Sugar from there much cheaper cause they don't have to follow the guide lines the government put on farmers in this country, thus allowing them to make sugar at a much lower cost. so the company sees more money while we see no savings and people in the US are unemployed from it.

Don't forget the textile workers that were left behind from NAFTA, those poor fools are goners too
The argument is Free Trade Creates more high paying jobs, and it does... it trades 20 lower paying jobs for 1 high paying job so 19 poor people just went on welfare and 1 poor person with some potential just got a middle management job while all his buddies got laid off.
