I have tried building my own.
I'm not that good on what parts, Most parts I practically know from Google and such. I have a PCI myself and not sure if graphic cards that are PCI-2 would work on mine.

I voted for build, because when you buy a PC, it is often hard to upgrade since they get the cheapest motherboard for the computer. Also, they often use motherboards that dont allow you to overclock.

Building computers is OUT OF STYLE now days.

Computers are bulky and usually take lots of desk space and they have a bunch wires that tend to get messed up. They are also difficult to transport, if you’re going to your friends lan party. Buy your self a notebook, I have had a notebook for many years now and I have to admit that I will never buy a desktop again. I purchased a desktop replacement notebook, it is the one that come with a huge 17 monitor, good video card and a fast hard drive. Been using it for a few years now, even did some upgrades, overall extremely happy with it and whenever I want I can go outside sit on my patio have beers and play games.

If you feel confident in your ability to build a computer, by all means build it yourself. You will end up saving alot of money and building a better machine than if you had gone with Dell, Alienware, HP, etc.

It's really not that tough, however it does get kind of tricky if you get a part that is DoA and you need to troubleshoot to figure which part is dead.

it depends on your knowledge of computers and your budget.
if you know what you want and know how to assemble and load up your system .... youa re probably not posting a question about that.
so get a prebuilt from a good manufacturer and enjoy the years of training that went into putting your machine together.

Build a custom in my eyes.

you can probly end up spending less for everything and make it run same speed or even faster than the Store boughts.
