I'd go for buy if you just want one that can work and dont have to worry about compatibility, but building is alot more fun imo if you like electronics.

Voted for build.

I get asked that question all the time, so if there is anyone out there questioning this here is a youtube vid to kinda help solve that question.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Q0tBvm7UbSg

It goes over all the basics, pros and cons of building or buying all types of computers, hope it helps some people.

I would opt for a custom build anyday but I can see times when people would prefer to buy. Personally, if I pwned an office I wouldn't be wanting to build up to a hundred or so workstations. Then theres the custom service and warentees that help Average Joe to make things work.

Seriousley, if you haven't built your own PC I'd suggest that you give it a shot instead of buying that new Dell off've the telly. Fun, interesting and you know your system inside out when you're done. Theres also a nice feeling after closing the case, turning it on and seeing that every is running smoothly

The only one that chose buy...

I can't be bothered to build something such as a computer lol. I'd rather go out and buy a good one such as the Sony flat screen I have now.

I would buy it unless you have extra components from previous computers to help reduce your bottom line.

You gotta build it; it's the best way. Cheapest and most satisfying way to get it done.

I put Build but I don't necesarily mean build it yourself. You can go to many online sites now and choose what you want/need in a system for a fraction of an off the shelf unit.

I priced a machine up at over $2500 and got it made at nearly the same spec for $1600

I find if way more satisfying to build it myself, once you do it you can say "I built that, ME" It's more about accomplishing something and it actually working that makes it that much better than just buying it, or having someone else build it for you.

Cheaper and better to build your own computer but can be difficult for newbs and can also be dangerous....

Build for experienced people

Buy for newbs!

Build it, you don't have to be a PH.D
you know what wires go where.

I've built my last few computers and I think that they great I've modded them so now they have my name written all over them Smile

Build. You usually end up with a better, and cheaper computer by picking out your own parts. Websites and mainstream computer manufacturers overprice way to much for a computer that is only decently good.

Buy if you have too much money and like to waste it. Build if you are intelligent enough to know what parts to buy and for what purpose you are building the computer.

I built mine yeah, was so much fun when I did it.Alot of work though, took 3 nights solid to build, but that includes software config and stuff.
Dont like OEM built, feels like they give you ALMOST everything, but take it back somewhere ya kno?

i would say if you can afford it, built it. in my opinion its the best thing to do b/c you get the most options for your computer and can get the coolest looking case with what you want inside
