I want to try my hand at building my own computer from scratch. I've never done it but i want to be more independant in that department instead of always relying on other companies to do it for me. Any websites or tips you guys have are well appreciated

If you're going to use pricewatch.com, check the sellers rating at resellerratings.com before you buy.

mwave, zipzoomfly, or newegg almost always have the best prices.. usually i find its between newegg and zip cause zip has free shipping on almost everything so if its a bigger parts they are cheaper alot of the times.

Building PCs used to be a bit harder. Had to set IRQs, drivers were a b***h, no PnP, but they basically got that stuff under control. I would recommend having access to an internet PC while you build your machine, incase you need to download some stupid bridge driver that wont let you access your network card or something lame like that.

But don't worry about it, it should go pretty smooth. As long as you dont have shag carpet Razz

You still need a bridge driver to access it, its on the PCI buss. Hopefully you would have it with a new PC, but I've had to find one when I couldnt find my CDs. The point still stands, having a working PC next to you can make life alot easier. Smile

video actually really depends. alot of boards dont come with integrated video, they just assume your getting a gfx card...

tons of abit, asus, shuttle, dell, etc motherboards all have onboard video. if you use it or not, that's a different story.

I just built a entire system off of newegg, and even ordered the wrong parts myself , and they took them back, gave me an RMA for credit and sent me the right parts. No questions asked, jsut did it. i had NO problems.
