Funny shit.

Although judges acting like clowns would seem to undermine respect for the judiciary.

Dude, why don't you just sit on your hands from time to time? You just think your p***y thoughts and keep them to yourself. That guy going to jail is a piece of shit and deserves what he got. Why must you rain on a community's parade who are now safer because he's not on the streets?

It's stupid f***s like you who whine about some b******t, and then it's banned later, or someone loses their job for something that didn't affect you at all.

I bet you'd say something about how Thanksgiving is horrible for turkeys, or how the hamburger we eat is murdering cows, or the air we breath is polluted by our own exhales, and that some f*****g plant is now going to disappear forever because of it.

f**k you sir.

... more of the same...

See, the thing is, I can actually have two separate ideas in my mind simultaneously. I can appreciate the humor, while realizing that it's inappropriate.

Everything isn't "good" or "bad". Most things have good and bad aspects. Appreciating that fact is the first step to critical thinking. You should try it. You might find you're less easily led.

Judges like that should be removed from the bench for makeing a joke out of the judiciary. I can't believe how people like this become judges in the first place...

I wonder if the defendant can appeal and get the sentence overturned because of this.

The guy was a long-term repeat offender, guilty on multiple counts. The judge can do whatever s/he wants with the courtroom, and if public humiliation is part of the sentence then HEY! Elect another judge if ya don't like it!

Oh f**k that, he gets off for her humiliating a guy who for 20+ years has been a criminal? He deserves it. Like Sinrakin said, it doesn't affect you, why care about someone else? God knows most people here don't give a rats ass about anyone else but themselves, why start with the criminals? Or are you thinking you might get the same treatment when you get busted?

That wasn't Atarom Smile

And the reason is that judges and the courts are accorded respect due to their presumed impartiality and devotion to justice. For a judge to act like a buffoon clearly diminishes that respect.

Do you believe lifetime criminals deserve to be treated like law abiding citizens then?

The court should never become a circus.
Should have tacked on the additional sentence for failing to appear to be served AFTER the previous sentence and move to the next.

Nope. I believe they should be treated with all due respect until convicted and sentenced, then locked away for a long f*****g time. But making it clear that the judge has a personal vendetta toward a specific person appearing before him is not good for the law.

Just because the guy has been a criminal for a long time, and deserves the sentence he got, doesn't mean the judge has the right to pull crap like this in a court room. If this was *outside* the court, organized by other people - fine, who cares.

As for careing about anyone but myself:

Quote:

First they came for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.

- by Rev. Martin Niemöller, 1945

And no, I'm not afraid of getting busted.

They deserve to be treated with some respect, yes. That's what we have laws for. Like Jack Crow said - additional sentence for failing to appear in court and that's that with that.

You know you are supporting a VP candidate who's entire FORTUNE of millions of dollars was made mostly by making a mockery of common sense in a court room?

http://news.findlaw.com/newsmakers/john.edwards.html

shows a selection of cases litigated by John Edwards. Apparently he got more than $175m in settlements and verdicts for his clients Shocked

Some cases are questionable - other's however absolutly justifieable.

Small example for those too lazy to click the link:

Quote:

5-year-old girl was disemboweled, but survived, after being caught and suctioned by wading pool's defective drain. Despite 12 prior suits with similar claims, manufacturer continued to make and sell drain covers lacking warnings. -- $25m settlement

850-lb. box delivered to attorney's home, fell on him breaking his back, causing paraplegia, and confinement to wheelchair. -- $4m settlement

Application of abdominal pressure and delay in performing c-section caused brain damage to infant and resulted in child having cerebral palsy and spastic quadriplegia. Verdict set record for malpractice award. -- $23.25m verdict

Infant suffered severe brain damage after obstetrician failed to moderate use of Picotin after baby displayed clear fetal distress. -- $2.5m settlement

Birth-related injuries including cerebral palsy and mental retardation allegedly caused by obstetrician's failure to diagnose fetal distress, including umbilical cord wrapped around baby's neck prior to delivery. -- $2.4m settlement

Doctor prescribed drug overdose of anti-alcoholism drug Antabuse, resulting in permanent brain and nerve damage. -- $3.7m verdict

These cases seem perfectly reasonable to me - someone makes mistakes causing damages like this, they better be held accountable.

What's it like to be as dumb as you - does it actually hurt? I'd think it would be like a throbbing pain in your head when you try to think or something. Does that sound about right? Or don't you notice it anymore?
