in bf2142 you have to unlock everything like c4 and apm's so I would have to say BF2!

I like bf2142 more because i like sci fi alot more. But also because it's leaning alot more twoards customazing.

I like BF2 over 2142.
Simple fact is a shooter is a shooter why add the advanced crap to it.
yea its fun but i know that i love the simple things just better graphics.

I think BF2142 is more infantry oriented as opposed to the vehicular massacre that is BF2. This is true mostly due to absence of jet fighters which, if used by an expert, could dominate the whole round undaunted by the laughable AA emplacements, or the myriad of newbish plane-campers whose end is not aerial domination but death from colliding into something static. I've seen jet pilots with KD ratios of 100:1 in a round.
Although BF2142 also has its share of vehicle whores, they're much easier to take down due to more effective fixed gun emplacements (both AA and anti-ground), and a more devastating arsenal for the enginner--motion mines to take down tanks and walkers, and the SAAW to take down gunships and transports.
For an experience that is more competitive and fair, go with BF2142. Go with BF2 if you feel life is unfair and that near invincible jet pilots in a game best reflect that unfairness

Gotta love the customization of 2142, but I prefer the more "realistic" approach in my combat. Could never get into the guns in 2142.
