It's horribly depressing to be in an environment where whim takes precedence over order, where attempts to mature are occluded by the impulse to gain, and where bad moods last as long as puberty.

Bad moods that last as long as puberty? Sounds like Starrydreamz the level 57 female high elf cleric in full Ethereal Mist was involved.

It is true that you can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time. but not all of the people all of the time. Guilds will always have some kind of problems. But most of these can be prevented by carful recruiting. Be honest with your recruits, tell them what your goals are, loot rules, back flagging. Then stick to them. Everybody wants the uber item. If they have an understand that you can do this target/evet several times, then people are more inclined to wait there turn. If all of a sudden you stop, for whatever reason, you're bound to p**s somone off. but they would be more inclined to understand if is was communicated well before hand.

Basicly guilds cause thir own problems. If you have whiners, b******g, or arguments it's because the leadership has failed in some way. By not recuiting compatable people, not keep members informed, or sharing the in the decision the direction the guild is going to take. When leadership breaks guild rules, bends them to fit their own needs, or simply won't share the responsibilities with others you will always have problems.

The statement is true, but preventable....

I can also say that people should only elect trustworthy government officials, but that doesn't make it any more likely to happen.

Typically the issue with about 80% of the guilds that are created lack vision and lack the motovation to recruit and move the guild over bumps in the road to get to the goal.

Friend says lets start a guild and get Uber and do NToV there is some shizzle up in there I can use. Thats where failure starts.

And for members, It's far easier for a player to join Xguild to get Xitem then move to Yguild to get in on the Yaction and then say all those guilds sucked and apply to Zguild which tells them to f**k off becuase they are not flagged.

This is quite possibly the best thread I have ever read here. I've seen this too. I was in B&L briefly towards its end. Got kinda funny. All loot was merit. It also seemed that all the officers were friends. Ergo, it often seemed that the officers and their friends were getting all the loot.

I remember when Nutzy disbanded he got on the guild boards crying about hot he was gonna quit EQ. He was being all sentimental and crap because he was leaving the game. Had the goodbye thread going, etc. Just a couple of weeks later he was a recruit for ED. What a f*****g liar.

So I wonder now. Was B&L just a big scheme to get the most uber people in the guild equipped? Nice to see the ubers moving on to bigger guilds after all by the time B&L was done you had had your fill right?
