I'm worried about the in-game balance of the top notch items found in Age of Conan. The way I see it, a game that claims to be a "realistic", grim-and-gritty affair has no business including uber-powerful items against which the lower-level characters are helpless. On the other hand, we all know how much MMO players want items. Any idea on how FC is handling this?

Well that's just the thing, they *claim* to be different than any other MMO in that respect, but it remains to be seen if they can actually pull this off. Me, I have my doubts. If you're making an MMO, you want people to stick around, grind, level-up, and get rich (or die trying), otherwise you won't keep them around. I don't think that[s possible without making them hugely overpowered when compared to the lowbies.
