Hey, my first game is EQ2 and I was thinking about to take some more pvp-ish game as a second game. I think Lineage 2 should be a good selection. How much time do I need to make a level 40 character with a casual play of max a couple of hours a week?

Reaching level 40 is not such a tuff task in lineage 2. For a casual play, you will need at least two to three months, but I think you should play at least an hour a day. If not, than it might take even 4-5 months. However, you cannot expect reaching maximal or near maximal level with casual play.
