PREMATURE EJACULATION
DEFINITION
Premature ejaculation is the inability to delay ejaculation long enough to achieve satisfactory **** function.
CAUSE
Premature ejaculation is not associated with organic or physical abnormalities. Its causes are primarily psychological. Medication is not associated with premature ejaculation, but drugs such as Prozac may cause retarded ejaculation.
DIAGNOSIS
This condition is generally recognized by the patient's complaint of inability to delay orgasm and maintain erection.
TREATMENT
Premature ejaculation is treated with basic **** therapy techniques.
When a man first experiences premature ejaculation, he may isolate himself from the **** act in an attempt to delay ejaculation. This approach is detrimental to gaining better control because he becomes less aware of imminent ejaculation. Rather, he should become more involved with **** activity so that he can more accurately perceive the feeling of inevitability. When he feels this sensation, he should withdraw his penis (or discontinue stimulation if this occurs during foreplay) and he or his partner should apply gentle pressure to the head of the penis with the index finger and thumb. This suppresses what would otherwise be an inevitable climax, and **** activity can continue.
With patience, this "squeeze" technique generally results in better ejaculatory control. If, however, this cannot be attained, **** therapy is generally successful in dealing with the problem since premature ejaculation rarely represents a physical malfunction.
