Tips on Flying and how to figure out windage for the sniper rifle?

HELP.

Id not have too much of a problem figuring out Ranges and shit for the sniper if the engine bothered to decal the shots for me. I see people who have figured out the sniper rifle so I know it can be done, but real world techniques like a shot spotter really dont apply to this game. Sad

help me be a killer.

best thing to do for flying is practice.. practice and practice some more.

Load up a local server on your machine, set it to 32 players so you can use the carrier/airstrip. Then figure everything out. Also play with the control settings till you find something that is comfortable to you. Unlike Desert Combat which could take days-weeks to master to the controls this will take you about an hour or so.

Sniper pretty much blows in its current form. Its way to underpowered, I've personally done 3 head shots to a f**k and he was still running around.. what the f**k! All I can say is patience for that and get good at leading your target.

I'm diggin the medic class right now.

The sniper rifle seems to pretty much go where you point, no dropoff or movement from wind. It's easier to tell with the svd since it's semi-auto with no bolt to take your view away from the sight. Also if you find the way to do unlocks you can pick between 2 different sniper rifles for each team. (Some servers have unlocks already)

Best way to practice flying is to start a server with 1 player limit and disable the time limits (I can post how to do that later if I find it again if you want)

I've found the Sniper Rifle to be like most other weapon kits, in that it's really weak.

I spent a good 5 minutes on a rooftop sniping, and got 0 kills, and not for lack of connecting. Definitley connected 2-4 times from long range on a dozen+ targets coming to cap a flag, and never got a killshot (Damage Points though ftw!). I in turn was spotted and shot at by an enemy sniper, and he hit ME multiple times and had to be in my face since I was prone. I didn't after being the recipient of at least 3, if not 4 shots.

I've had similar experience with other weapons, including the PK Machinegun (that's the name for it in Desert Combat, I forget what it's called in BF2). I had to pump at least 8 shots at close range into a guy's chest to finally down him.

If I shoot you 4 times with ANYTHING above the waist, especially at close range, you should die! I'm not asking for a License To Kill mode, and I guess it's to keep a person from dying every 8 seconds, but c'mon...

Game still rocks though.

the reason body snipe shots don't kill is because 2 or 3 classes have body armor headshot is insta kill
i'm more then happy that snipers aren't godly in this game..to many snipers on a map drives me nuts.

nothing bugs me more then we are losing control of the flags and you check the team score and see 8 guys laying around in hiding sniping.
frigging useless unless you are controling the majority of the cap points

I like sniping in halo2. 2 shots anywhere will kill a person, 1 headshot will kill them instantly. Also, sitting still sniping is gay...specially in CTF.

In other news, BF2 has reinstituted the b******t "You must be still for 5 seconds before you have any long range accuracy at all" that they had in the earlier one. So make sure you count that 5 before you shoot, It also resets the 5s if you turn too fast or anything

So top arrow on sniper scope will be the hit zone? there is no bullet drop off at all? no windage to perform?

Aim for the neck in BF 2 if you're sniping. Most infantry are wearing helmets, and I'm sure that will reduce the amount of damage taken.
