The thing about it though, is that the servers aren't down. I've been in playing, but my roomie can't log in at all, as I'm running around in the game. So it's just the login server that's skrewed up...

Gethy, I'm not complaining like I'm paying for it. I was just stating that it is becoming unberable.

The login has been pretty f****d today, that's for sure. It's gone from better to worse with the introduction of the last patch, so I'm just kind of hoping it's a test and not their game (and servers) being unreliable.

It sucks, but if you think for a minute they had 500.000 people sign up for open beta, add to that people already playing CB and stress test you can get to easily 700.000 people trying to play this game.....

EQ max people was 450.000 i think, can you imagine the stress on their infrastructure. WoW, pun intened.

I do hope they can figure out their max load per server etc and fix this before release.

So far the game ran without lag, no crashes whatsoever until open beta started .

Hello everyone. The server team has just gotten back to me with some information that I'd like to share with you.

The Eastern and Central servers have just been restarted. It appears that every server in this cluster is running smoothly with the new changes that have been made. We will be taking care of the Pacific and Mountain servers shortly.

However, in order to monitor the changes and make sure everything gets up to speed in working order, the player "cap" is set lower than it usually is to prevent undue strain. We'll be increasing the caps slowly back up to normal as things progress during the evening.

Thank you all for being patient with us today and for bearing with us through the rest of the server restoration. We hope to have everything back up and running normally soon. Smile

How many people do you think are going to actually buy the game when it isn't free anymore tho?
I know a lot, but is the 500k realistic?
I'm dreading opening day....newbie zone hell.
I wish they'd migrate level 10 and under to the live servers, that way the newbie zones might not be quite as horrible and the head start of beta people won't be too much.
*shrug*
oh well

People keep on saying "dude its open beta stop your b******g" but the game is due for live in like 10 days, I dont see how you can deal with that many server issues in under 10 days. New bandwidth requires contracts and all kinds of other things. Sure not all of the 500k people in Open beta will be playing but on the same note alotta people are going to be playing that are not in open beta currently. I'm willing to geuss this number is not far off from the first month live.

However other then that this game is flawless. Ever issue i've had so far is lag/server related the coding for the quest/pathing/balancing they are all perfect IMO. Not to mention that people are generaly cooler from what i've found out.

It's a beta, meaning they are TESTING stuff, and doing things like intentionally overloading servers to see how well they handle the strain. Stuff like the queuing probably hasn't had the chance to be tested until there were enough people in the system.

Increasing bandwidth requires like, a phone call.

A number of inquiries have come in about the lag issues on some of the servers, so we want to take some time to provide more in-depth information for you. Some of you might be surprised to learn that the lag you’re experiencing is an expected and necessary part of the open beta test. Contrary to what some of you might believe, the open beta test is intended as a massive stress test, and not just a free demo of the game prior to launch.

Read forums, realize almost every single open beta at least that i have been has been lagged to hell. Many even ran debugging programs that lagged the servers even more.
But wow seems stable enough to where they dont need to run that.
