I've seen this guy on TV, I think he's great.
I suppose if they cry about their tents too much, they could open up the original territorial prison in Yuma... its not a tent..... *chuckle*

While his methods were the focus of wide media controversy partly due to the fact that a majority of the inmates in Maricopa County's jails are awaiting trial under an assumption of innocence, he responded by saying that "jails should not be country clubs".

Arpaio has also been linked to several controversies, including the 1996 death of inmate Scott Norberg in the County jail, and the subsequent trial and acquittal of County Detention Officers.
Norberg was arrested for chasing two young girls in Mesa. Reportedly high on methamphetamine, he was accused of attacking the jail Detention Officers who were trying to restrain him. In the subsequent struggle and restraint he died. According to an investigation by Amnesty International, Norberg was already handcuffed and face down when officers dragged him from his cell and placed him in a restraint chair with a towel covering his face. His death, according to the Maricopa County medical examiner, was due to "positional asphyxia". Norberg’s parents, filed a lawsuit against the Sheriff’s Office which was settled for $8.25 million

$8.25m - he's going to have to cut meals a lot more to make up for that.

I saw those guys out in pink when I was down in arizona. That's the way a prison should be run, but they need to keep the temperature under 115 so the free labor doesn't die.

You have no idea how hot it gets in Arizona. Babies die on a weekly basis from being left in cars.

I dont? Hmm, thats a pretty big assumption considering you have no idea that im from southern New Mexico and lived there for 13 years. Also that i visited my grandfather in Yuma, AZ on a monthly basis in the summer while i was in HS and Junior High. So basicly, you have no confirmed you are a f*****g moron who has no f*****g clue what you are talking about. Kindly shut your mangina and go back to lying to men about your gender.
As I said before you spouted your d*****s statement, f**k the Scumbags.

I had 2 friends that spent 5 days each out there for DUIs. They said it sucked, and that the food was horrible. I would hate spending all day outside in Phoenix in the summer. Hell I could barely stand walking half a mile from school to my apartment. It blows my mind that people willingly lived there before air conditioning. It's fairly suprising to me that people choose to live there now as a matter of fact.

I spent a week in Pheonix and the highest temp I saw was 114. It's hot but I don't see what's so terrible about it. Hell it feels better then 100~ and 90%+ humidity here, but at least it stays 90-95 mostly on a hot day. The dry heat is a lot easier to me since you can actually cool off by sweating instead of just dripping all the time.

The vast majority of people who get locked up are guilty. I would put the numbers up in the 99 percentile.
I never arrested someone who wasn't guilty.

Even if they are innocent, chances are they were involved in something semi-shady to end up being sent to trial. Time in those conditions will do'm good as far as not wanting to enter into a criminal lifestyle afterwords.

Wish they had that shit here where im at.
They call the county jail here the hotel. The inmates do nothing. All food and clothing is done by outside ppl. They get cable tv and like once a week they get to pick a movie to rent and someone will go out and rent it for them.
My tax dollars is paying for these ppl to live a better life then most ppl. My brother who is there now tells me there are ppl who will get out and like a month later commit some small ass crime so they can get back in and get 3 square meals a day + ac.

115 in arizona = 100 in florida.
lauren shut your f*****g lying ass mouth.
people live in arizona because from sept - dec and feb-april its unreal. the 3-4 months of 100+ degree's are easily remedied with air condititioning and the monsoon season.
plus companies in arizona pay a fuckload of money compared to other places. cost of living is practically nothing. i dont mind living here making 2x what i make in california.
i just hope california falls into the ocean so i can start driving to yuma to go surfing.

I've gotta agree, that part's not right. No reason you should be treated like that just because you were accused. How would you feel if you were innocent of a crime, awaiting your trial, and had to put up with being treated like an animal?
However, I think he's just what the doctor ordered for those who are convicted.
