Took a break in The Wheel of Time series - just finished Book 6 (Lord of Chaos)...wanted to read the final book of the Sword of Truth series...Naked Empire by Terry Goodkind.
Sword of Truth has been my favourite series of fantasy books in quite a long time

A man after my own heart. I read that pretty much straight through 4-5 years ago (when the year matched that in the book) and watched the movie again very recently. Good stuff!
Right now I'm reading:

Never get tired of these. The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber is the greatest short story ever.

I'm sorry.

At this point you could walk away forever and say "that was a pretty decent series". I recommend that you do exactly that and spare yourself books 7-10.

Just say no to self-help dorks telling you how to run your life!

Unfortunately I'm not reading anything atm. Has the final dark tower book come out yet? I am going to reread the whole series, but I don't want to do it until I can buy a boxed set with the complete series. I don't want to wait around for the last book to come out when I have just finished reading the other 5.
I am also trying to find a copy of this:
for a decent price on ebay.

lol. I look at this book more as a motivational management book a la Dale Carnegie more than a self help book. He's the analyst for the NBA on NBC and was the former GM of the 76ers who started out as a physical therapist for the team.

Booker, how do you like The Origin of Satan and the others?
Friend was reading Origin and said it ripped some more holes in Christianity's story. Worth checking out?

That would be Aldous Huxley.
And how can you hate The Great Gatsby? Well, you won't hate it when you get a chance to actually read it, instead of doing it in class. It's a great book. It's all symbolism, you know. Apply it to your life.
