AoC, Sieges and total war combat

How was the sieging and territory or castle control implimented? I was told only try this game if you have good specced computer, which I do but as well if your willing to devote alot of time to leveling andreally the end game part is the only part that is fun? If that is true than isn't AoC dieing?
