Will this game be like some other MMOs where you need to stick to your end of the world until you do all the newbie quests and level up, and only then do you venture out into other lands? I mean, if I play a Stygian, will I have to stick around Stygia for long before I'm high enough level to go out?

In a word, no. You don't even start in your own country, every character starts out in Tortage (well, sort of). Go read the FAQ. Also, I don't think there will actually be any race-specific quests in Age of Conan, though I might be wrong there. Even if there are, finishing them won't be a requirement for leaving your home area.
