It's about 4 months old and has the $300 unlimited Tivo subcription paid for.

Looking for about $500.

FYI, getting rid of it because I switched to DISH and they can't support Tivo since DirecTV bought the rights.

send me a PM if interested.

what is there for them to support? I don't get it.... Is it a standalone TiVo? If so, thats like Dish telling you 'Sorry, you can't have a VCR hooked up because we don't support that'

If its a Directivo, then its not a question of support, its a compatibility issue.

I'm only asking, because its a shame to sell a TiVo for no reason.

Kemble,
According to Dish, they stated that DirecTV (Hughes) bought the rights to Tivo.
So, Tivo will not work with Dish as it would with DirecTV or Cable providers. Scheduling wouldn't get updated etc...

The only thing I could do to use it with Dish is to have it function much like a VCR does without having it automatically change the channels based on programming schedule etc... It would be severely limited in functionality.

I don't want to sell it, but I got tired of Comcast cable quality sucking, plus them charging more for less channels than a Satellite provider.

Now Dish vs. DirecTV? I chose Dish because DirecTV wanted too much for an HD Receiver.

At any rate, SOMEONE BUY MY TIVO!

You didn't answer my question....... Is it a standalone TiVo? I'm assuming it is because you give the impression that you had comcast up until now. A DirecTiVo (not stand alone) is a TiVo that has a directv receiver built in. Unless you were a Directv customer you would have a stand alone TiVo

IF you have a stand alone TiVo, then Dish is feeding you a line of b******t. The satellite feed will come from the dish outside, into your dish receiver, out of the dish receiver, into yout TiVo, out of the TiVo and into your TV. The stand alone TiVo gets its guide data via a modem or network card. A DirecTiVo gets its guide data from the satellite datastream. DirecTV can own the rights to Tivo just like Sony owns the rights to 'Trinitron' or 'Wega' that doesn't mean you can't use a Pioneer DVD player on a Sony TV.

BTW, http://www.tivo.com/1.6.5.asp

P.S. If you really want to sell it, i'll give you $50.
