Confused seems to think that "Leftists" want to use this incident as an excuse to get us out of Iraq, by God knows how...I guess if the American populace feels that we aren't having an effect in Iraq, they will eventually vote for Kerry. The fact that all the Arabs are up in arms is a direct result (according to Confused) of all the "Leftists" making an issue out of the debauchery of those Iraqi prisoners. You're getting close, but not quite there. Democrats don't simply want us out of Iraq. They want us to fail as we leave. Conservatives want us to leave Iraq, but only with a stable government left behind. So it's not that leftists are trying to use this as a means of getting us out of Iraq. Rather, they're using it as a way to turn Iraqi sentiment against the US so that the US will fail in its efforts. It's pretty despicable.
If leftists were genuinely concerned with America, they wouldn't give our enemies reasons to get up in arms and attack our troops some more (as kerry did a couple months ago). They would do as Bush did...Condemn the isolated incidents and say those who violated US policy will be tried. But no...Leftists immediately have to condemn all of the armed forces as harbingers of desctruction in the middle east. |
Once again, I think you're misenterperating the disdain and disapproval of this war by democrats with "wanting" us to fail.
If Democrats knew that this war would bring freedom to the Iraqis, stability to the region, and to our country, then they would be all for the war. Don't argue that for one second Confused, because it will make you sound a bit more confused than you already are.
The reality is that Democrats didn't want this war to begin with, and they stick by this view all throughout. It's freedom of choice...
The fact that they continue to show disapproval of this war does not mean they "want us to fail". It means they feel that we were failing to begin with, failing now, and will fail to achieve the Administration's purpose in Iraq.
They would love for us to succeed, they just don't believe that this is the path to success.
Now, the Iraqis may see that even Americans are in disapproval of their own war and want to take advantage of our "weakness" as you call it, and try to resist as much as possible until the election so Kerry has a higher chance of being elected come election time.
This is a definite possibility, in fact it's definitely going to happen, but regardless of American opinion these Arabs would have gotten just as huffed about this debauchery as they would if American opinion was 100% in favor of Bush and the war in Iraq. |
I just saw Kerry on TV saying that Bush didn't respond quickly enough to those pictures. Bush responded the same day. Leftists want America to fail. Pay attention when they speak. |

I'm on my way out the door so I don't have time to grab the research for this but I believe the Democrats supported the war in Iraq. At least they supported it if you go by a Congressional vote. I'll have to see if I can dig up the numbers when I get back.

But when I read your one word responses to someones opinion that is contradicting your own I lose so much respect for you. Calling someone a "scumbag" or that they should "go hump a moose" because they are Canadian is the wrong way to go about it.
I can't even begin to understand or even think about what is going on in both of your heads when you post to this board. How can you have such genuine hate for people that don't share your own beliefs?
