I've studied some martial arts, on and off over the years, really not much I remember about it and still less to write home about. What I am interested in tho are weapon forms.. which martial arts are good for teaching weapon forms? Im thinking sai, bo and tonfa in particular.. Some of these weapons are used across systems which is why Im asking.. are these primarily karate weapons?
Forgive the ignorance of the question itself but Ive done some reading and I get plenty of history on each weapon and its forms but the obvious question seems to elude most savants.

Really depends on the school, sir. Some dojos will throw out weapon and style names like the menu at a chinese food restaurant. It's so tacky and so.. commercial.
If you can afford the time, try to visit 5 to 10 dojos of different styles around you. I'm sure they'd be glad to let you watch a class or two.
The ones I have trained at had weapons classes, specially for teaching the different weapons we studied. There was really too much to cover during normal class - except in how the weapon technique applied to the unarmed art.

You should learn gun. It's a much stronger technique than any other weapon style I've seen.
