Even the foreign posters in that thread say they don't buy American for good reason. "If you make it well, they will come." ...a lesson that american auto manufacturers can't seem to get a secure grasp on. Oh well, maybe someday. (they seem to finally be learning something, though)

Eh? This is old news. At any rate, it isn't worthwhile lambasting GM for cars they made 20 years ago. What's important now is that their product's quality is nearly identical to foreign products. You probably didn't see the JD Power results I posted here a couple of months ago (or maybe you did but didn't like the results so you ignored it like many others I noticed), but it's all there in black and white. Our auto-industry got lazy and bloated, but they're cleaning up their act and closing the gap. What will you say when it's gone?

I've only bought European, but I don't think they're particularly better. I really like this car, though I think the fact that Celine Dion drives it in the commercial would make it dorky.

I read plastic.com a couple times a week. I wasn't actively looking for shit to sling, I just stumbled across this and thought it was particularly amusing/relevant after what we discussed on here recently.

If it's going to p**s you off though, I'll try and expend some actual effort to search this stuff out in the future! =)

All that really says is they're getting much better, and that GM is the best of the big 3 in right now. Don't forget that some foreign cars were also serious POS material in the past, no company has a perfect record. The problem is buying foreign only hurts the big 3 further and that only makes it harder for them to improve their products. I'm not such a selfish b*****d to lack any patriotism because i can save a few bucks. What you and others like you claim to save is really negligible and will probably cost you more in the long run when the economy takes the hit. I've written before about how the automotive industry affects jobs, and it's important to understand why this can hurt everyone. You should support what our country produces, not just for the jobs, but because it is on the way up and it will be superior in the long run. Buy American, support our economy. Thank you.
