...the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings. What a sad, sad performance. Shame on them all, at no point in time did it ever look like the team wanted to win this series, not even tonight with their backs to the wall.

hockey..... The only good thing about hockey is when they fight , get rammed into the wall or when they make those slick shots, they score and the goaly is all looking around like a d*****s .. I don't like hockey much but it's okay to watch. I use to be a feking jock so i kind of like all sports.. Basic sports

This leaves me in the uncomfortable position of rooting for the Leafs. Please let some team with history and dignity win the Cup this year, I'm sick of upstarts like Colorado and Dallas. Boston would be cool, but they're toast like the Wings I'm afraid. The talk of the town this morning is what the Wings' roster will look like next year. Will they open the pocketbook more? Are they going to clamp down a bit? Hmm, this early exit means the team and city will have made $40 million less than last year... so it's awfully hard to sign Fedorov for the $10-12 million he wants. Larionov will retire and there's an outside chance Chelios will too (god he's looked tired for months). Robitaille will not be re-signed and he'll probably head back to LA for cheap and score 30 again. Sadly, I don't see Woolley coming back either although he's been everything the Wings wanted from him and more. He'll have to take a lesser offer to stay (and why would he? the Wings are first round losers) Realistically, Detroit will have 4-5 roster spots opening up and they may fill them with their prospects and marginal veterans instead of going all out like they did a couple of years ago (when they signed Hull, Robitaille, and Hasek). Financially, they may have to. 'Tis a shame...

Yeah Akronn I agree with the Wings losing some guys, there is no question it will happen. Not only did Anaheim's goalie stand on his head some of the wings just did not show up - Federov to name one was MIA As far as the Leafs go - if they lose on Saturday they are done, so many injuries are killing them, not having Mogilny last night hurt them badly

Akronn, the Red Wings were playing for their lives out there last night...I could feel the desperation in every single one of the players. They never throw their sticks down in anger unless they are really trying...I saw a few instances where they were just fed up with the ducks. The ducks defense was incredible...they were just on top of everything. Half the time the red wings were in their zone, and when they finally mustered up enough energy to get down the line, the ducks were there to answer back with a wall of sticks. They knew just how to play the puck in their zone..how to get back into the red wings with as little effort as possible, while keeping formation down the line so there wouldn't be as many turnovers on their part. I couldn't believe how well they succeeded at this...Not because theyre all super star players, but because the Red Wings were slacking and letting them get away with it. wtf in hell man . I still can't believe they shut them out though. Very unexpected (well, until the 3rd game)

They played for their lives for the last 5 minutes, which is exactly what they did in the previous game too. A 5 minute effort isn't going to win you many hockey games. I find the excuse that Giguere just stole the series a little hard to swallow considering the Wings didn't even try to adapt. They used the same exact game plan for all 4 games. Fricken' brilliant.

Haha, so true Frax. A few years ago I just happened to be in Colorado for the remainder of a Wings/Avs playoff series. The Wings had their backs to the wall and were facing elimination, and my class (it was a geology field methods course) all decided to enjoy the game over a few beers at Applebee's. Well, needless to say the Wings lost the game and were eliminated that year. OMG the 8 of us just wanted to disappear from that bar as quickly as possible...

A sad day indeed. I'm pretty damn disappointed that the wings were swept, i expected them to at least win a few games if they were gonna get beat. I think the wings will see some major changes as a result of this, and federov going bye bye is one of the most likely ones.

Upstart like Colorado? Oh cmon now just cause a team moves to a new location doesnt mean they dont have a history... just means location and name change. Besides if Roy, Forsberg, Sakic dont deserve the cup then I sure as hell dont want to see a drunkin p*y like Balfeour take the cup. I would like to see one of the Canadian teams take the cup if the Av's cant. But for the love of everything not the god damn Stars, p**s.
