I can't get this thing to work! I've managed (finally!) to make the damn crowler armor, but I can't upgrade it to the prowler kind. I've been following some online guides, and they all say the same – I have to get a profiltration unit and to apply it to parts of the crowler armor to turn it into prowler armor, but this just doesn't work, no matter how I try it! Do I need to take it to an NPC, or are my skills to low, or what?

Actually, you probably have a damaged proliferation unit, and you need to fix it before you can apply it. Use a screwdriver on it, and it will turn into a fixed proliferation unit. Keep in mind, though, that when you apply the unit to a piece of crawler armor, it's used up. You'll have to kill the Alpha Skincrawler at least 9 times to convert them all and assemble the full prowler armor set.
