I got a PS2 the night they came out, played it quite a bit for the first month or so, then went back to EQ. Hardly ever touched it for the next year and a half, only to play 3/4 CD's of Final Fantasy 9.
I bought an XBOX about 2 years ago and only played it twice. I ended up selling both it and the PS2 for ~$215 each, only a few days before the price drop of $299 - $199.
About 3 months ago I bought a Gamecube to play Zelda. I ended up liking this better than both the XBOX and PS2. There weren't the insanely long load times of the PS2 and I always hated the XBOX controller. I eventually got Metroid: Prime, Mario Party 4, Mario Sunshine, and Dead to Rights(sucks).
So now I'm really getting back into console games after years of computer games being my first choice. All of these PS2 games Squaresoft has made, I haven't had the chance to play - and they are my favorite game developer. I'm thinking of buying another PS2 to play games like Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy X, Xenosaga, and Final Fantasy Online when it comes out. My question is, do you think it would be worth it? Am I really missing that much by not owning a PS2 anymore?

if you have the money go ahead. the majority of responses you are going to get here is omg they all sucked compared to ff7 and ff3 ongkkeklozl they r gay. i found kingdom hearts and ffx fun to play though, even if they arent the best evar.

Xenosaga is shit but if you were sufficiently amused by anything on the gamecube aside from Metroid Prime then pretty much even the shittiest of the PS2 games will entertain you.

ok... just had to get that out of my system...
Xenosaga was good, but it's part of a series, and all they really did was introduce the characters..
Don't get dark cloud... that game was a pointless dungeon crawl... They boasted that they had 100s of levels.... yeah, that's because they all look the same with different wall animations, and/or monsters... i believe it random generates the level so you can get different items and stuff, but it's still fairly boring, not sure about dark cloud 2...
Jak and daxter was a fairly entertaining action sim... not something i'd buy, just something i'd rent for a weekend or something...
Xenogears rocked for the ps1... it blew me away... so much better than final fantasy 7... it grabbed me from the second scene, and had me hooked the whole way through...
Neverwinter nights, or morrowind is out on the Xbox... heard it's pretty good..
Grandia 2 ... hmm not really much i can say about it... decent game *the first time around* kinda like a revamped "illusion of gaia" with a new equipment system though (eg, you don't choose where you go on the map, they've got a set line of places you can go)...
My new system of choice is the PS2, because it's backwards compatable with ps1 games... so i can play xenogears, and everything else... I'm a really big fan of snes games though, more than i like ps2... currently working on final fantasy 1 for the Nes... on the cartrige....

yeah, one thing I would really like to do is get all the video game consoles and have them hooked up to a big TV in my room.
Is there anywhere you can still buy Xenogears brand new? I really don't want a used copy, because most people do not take care of their stuff like me.

im pretty sure they still make ps1 games and release them as the ps1 classics. well that is if they were high selling games in the first place.

ffx was fun, graphics are very good, seemed to linear and short for me but still fun and worth it.

I was just in Toys 'R us by me a few days ago and noticed they still sell Xenogears. Not sure if they're newly released or just old left overs that no one bought though

i like racing games. 2 sweet ass ones out right now are Moto GP 2 for xbox(probably best race game of any kind ever made, but it's a motorcycle game) and atv offroad fury. both fun as hell.

they are still making ps1 games.
DBZ ultimate battle just came out recently, as well as FF Origins which has ff1 and the real ff2 that wasnt released in the US.

I thought ff online was craptacular. They didnt like it overseas, so they are goin to let the US audience play it.
FFX-2 looks good though.
