I want to play LOTRO, but I do not know if I should go solo. What classes are suitable for solo play? Which one would you choose? I have seen how the game looks, and I know that I will be happy in either way. What would be you main choice? Every kind of help is always appreciated.

I speak for myself, and do not want to offend any other player. I would always choose any group play over any solo one. It is much better to play with group of players, than with computer driven or by myself. LOTRO has many good classes for solo play, but I would never choose one. I would definitely recommend you to try several of them first, and then choose one. That way, you will know how the class works, and then you can make you decision better. Maybe, this same thing will tell you some more of MMO gamers, and that is why you should forget about solo play in LOTRO.

I played a loremaster pretty much solo and it worked out very well. It depends on how you play the class
Take the loremaster for example, your pet can offtank one npc
You can Mez/stun another
You can root another 2
You can grab your quest item and be out without ever taking a hit.
Some classes like that can crowd control very well saving you the trouble of fighting.
And it doesnt do so bad in PVP
Take the minstrel for example. Not really a good solo class character, yeah it can heal itself like crazy, does wear medium armor and can wear a shield it just doesnt really have the versatility as a few other classes, and you are a huge target in pvp being a healer, they know to take those classes out first.
The guardian is a little slower paced also for solo play and killing but a little more sturdy and in very high demand at higher levels.
If you want solo play look into a Captain/Loremaster/Burgler possibly

One of the easiest classes to solo with in lotro is the hunter. With the hunter you have traps/snares which allow you to get a few more shots off before the mob gets to melee range. for the most part a good hunter with ample gear will have the mob down to less then 1/4 health when the mob gets melee range. Any class in this game can solo for the most part but I would recommend hunter.

anything but a guardian really, i mean they can take the hits but they cant deal the damage. If you ANYONE else with you then a guardian and w/e works wonders.

I have a level 50 hunter, 50 burg, and 50 LM. Burg and LM are by far the best classes in the game as far as soloing goes.

Got a 50 hunter and 50 bard. Out of the 2 i'd say Hunter is better for soloing. Though I do find playing my bard more enjoyable cause I love being able to heal.
