I was just looking at Dell systems yesterday, and suddenly they all have the option to include a physics card for games. Looks sort of cool, not sure if it's worth $250.

The Mach V from Falcon-NW blows the shit of of Alienware. I just got a fully pimped out Mach V and its tuff as nails.

How so? What makes it tuffer than Alienware? What constitutes "pimped out" and how does it blow the shit out of AW? Is that opinion or do you have data to share that can help us understand this as fact.
I just configured one on their website just about the same as what I got and it came to $653 more than I paid for my Alienware. So I am curious.
I don't have a particular girlie erection for Alienware, I just think that once you have the same basic parts in a box, (MB, RAM, vid card, HD etc) it boils down to tweaking, marketing, extraneous crap they add, price and customer support.
The AW box is cool though, its like I have this black '58 Chrysler with blue lights on my desk. I keep thinking... flames... yes, it needs flames.

the alienware laptop is just a sager/clevo D900T. hell the sagers are the exact same laptop box and everything.
alienware is as close to homemade pc that you can buy in the store.
the dell thing sucks. they bought them because high end users buy alienware and not XPS.

just make your own. if you buy from a dealership you are paying for a name and a warranty. Warranty is nice but if you have enough know-how to build a computer you can find almost any problem and how to trouble shoot it online somewhere. People are suckers.

I was in the market for a high end system a while back. Falcon was too expensive. Alienware was too cliche and, also, too expensive.
I ended up getting a Hypersonic and it kicks ass.

And the kicker is alot of the items you buy have a warranty, so if the peice breaks you call them up, send it in and they send you a new part. So it's win win, build your own and save a ton of cash!

but to many people already build their own, and building computers for people is a fun and profitable side hobby

Let's face it Alienware is not about getting people who can build and troubleshoot to come to us.
It is about getting billy and timmy to ask mom to buy them that cool looking system.
That's the bottom line and it works very well. Having a computer pro or expert builder talk bad about alienware is useless since we are not targeting that type of person.

ROFL Alienware is not the only worth company. There are quite a few out there who are very good.

FalconNW
GamePC.com
There are a few other botique dealers out there. Yes they all charge you between 400 and 1500 more than you'd pay if you built it yourself, but this ok for those who don't want to build their own, which can lead to a lot problems if you don't do your research first.
Also there are tons of shops that sell PC parts that will build a PC to your specs, these shops also make great computers becuase you pick the parts and you know exactly what you are getting.

really, this could be very good for alienware... they're getting access to dell's supply chain and financial backing... say bye bye to 6 week lead times on new systems,
