Alexander sucked. There was about 15 minutes of fighting in the whole movie, which was 3 hours long. The plot line was impossible to follow if you didn't know the story, and the actors were horrible. Though Angelina Jolie tried her best to play the evil mother, I just couldn't get over the fact that she and Colin Farrell are the same age in RL. From the time Alexander was born, to the time he turned 20, she didn't age a day. The scripts were horribly, mind-numbingly, suicide-inducingly boring.
BTW this movie cost about 160 million to make. I hope Oliver Stone dies in a fire for making me waste 9 dollars on his piece of cowshit. Colin Farrell was still cool though.

This movie did f*****g suck. IT was 3 hours f*****g long and dragged out like shit. Half of the f*****g battle scenes you couldt follow cause the f*****g camera man had A.D.D. Colin Farrell also love sthe c**k. Angelina Jolie, omg, f**k me.

You are surprised it sucked? The previews had Alexander screaming about the freedom and glory of Greece... wtf. The man wasn't Greek and he certainly didn't give a flying f**k about freedom for anyone.
That and they had the b*****d using stirrups 800 years before they were invented. *grumble* This is why I don't see "History" movies, but hopefully it will encourage people to go out and read the histories on him. I highly recommend the one by Quintus Crucius Rufus. Not only does he have an awesome name, but he was a wild ass gossip monger from Rome, so you get all sorts of amusing shit thrown in there.

Oh and lack of military stuff, that is terribly disappointing, yet not terribly surprising to be honest. Stone isn't a militaryesque director at all, he's a political guy who likes to re-write history. And with the scale of Alexander's battles he'd be even less likely to really show'em.
Alexander fought relatively few major battles (Granicus River, Issus, and Gaugamela), then a few other lesser ones (his Afghanistan Campaign and Indus River rampage) and these wouldn't be easy to film. This generally isn't the stuff of drama that Stone lines, though each was brilliantly executed by Alexander. Hell, no one does that kinda thing anymore, the last one was in Braveheart and a little of it in Gladiator, its just too expensive and hard to get and coordinate the thousands of extras.

I think that's why the film was such a letdown. The only thing they advertised in the trailers were battle sequences, leading you to believe the movie was going to be shot like Troy, Braveheart, etc...
QUESTION: Does anyone know if Dish Network has Japanese channels that you can pay extra to receive?
