I enjoyed the movie. I'll probably go see it again on Saturday. I don't really understand why people get all bent out of shape about everything not being accurate. It is a movie remember ? and not one of those made for TV crappers that have you asleep in 10 minutes.

Alexander was indeed 'Greek.'
This movie blew, and so does the old Richard Burton version made in the '50s. I don't think the story of Alexander makes for a compelling movie, they just plod along aimlessly for nearly three hours...

No, he wasn't Greek. Macedonia wasn't like Athens or Sparta, one of the city states which had a loose overall sense of being "greek", it was a completely seperate nation with its own seperate identity.
I don't understand why Greeks get so het up about the Macedonia thing, probably because their greatest hero was Macedonian and by keeping a sliver of Macedonia inside their borders they can claim him as their own.
Probably comes from having taken a rotation of Slav and Turk c**k up their arses for so many, many centuries.

Actually if you want to get technical the major battles they showed on on screen took place in what is now modern day Iraq around the Mosul area. NOT GREECE! LOL
There are also LOADS of historical mis-representations... He has one of Alexander's Generals ( I can't remember the name atm..) Present at the major battle in the movie and historically this man was already dead LOL!!
About the only thing he did get right about Alexander was the fact that he was bi-**** (well actually he was more gay than bi)
Belive it or not, what I find most interesting about Alexander wasn't represented very well in the movie and that is his strategic genius.
The man pretty much defined warfare and came up with the strategies which most militaries still use today!!!
I'm going to check out that book too xammer .. would be interesting to read all the juicy gossip!!!!
